These microorganisms are concentrated in the biofilm within the protected areas.
The unique environment fosters the growth of anaerobic bacteria or facultative aerobes internally, while aerobic bacteria thrive on the exterior.
Each carrier functions as a micro-reactor. In aerobic treatment systems, this occurs through blast aeration, whereas in anaerobic systems, it happens under the gentle influence of stirring.
This ensures that the wastewater and biofilm-laden biological carriers frequently interact, enhancing the system's efficiency
simultaneously fortifying the microbial biofilm renewal, thereby maintaining and boosting the biofilm's vigor. The suspension carrier creates a
complex composite ecosystem by merging with the existing activated sludge. The biofilm adhering to the carrier significantly amplifies the active biomass
within the reactor. The joint action of suspended activated sludge and biofilm on the suspended carrier's surface enhances
the system's resilience to impact loads, elevating sewage treatment efficiency and stabilizing effluent quality.
The overall treatment performance is significantly enhanced.
